Natural Healing

I believe it is essential that we appreciate our bodies, they are like the temple of our soul, the divine energy. As we look after temples and churches (we clean them, we are respectful when we are in it), we must do the same with our body. The way we treat our body tells a lot about how we feel about ourselves. If we don’t look after our bodies by for example taking drugs, drinking alcohol, or eating too much food, it will seem that we are sabotaging ourselves. When we respect our body, we care for it, like we care for someone we love.

This appreciation for my body rose when I started to meditate. I could perceive how wonderful our bodies are, what they do every second, every minute, the fact that there are so many different systems in our body, each one of them with completely different functions. How can we not appreciate our body? And the other bodies? The body of a bee, a cockroach, an octopus, a dog, an elephant… They are masterpieces.

Being more conscious of ourselves, body, emotions, behaviors, etc., we can understand what is nurturing or depleting to us. The more we nurture it, the better we will live. If we decide to follow the things that deplete us, we know it can settle into a chronic disease.

I believe that healing has to occur on many levels. We cannot just start to exercise and believe that all illnesses will go away. We must understand that the universe inside us is complex and healing comes from many levels, for example lifestyle, thoughts, elimination of toxins (in body and mind), discipline, etc.

For example, regarding the thoughts, I believe it is extremely important to have positive thoughts. These will help us recover from an illness, will give us courage and faith.

God is the Creator, The Great Spirit, the Macrocosms. We are the children of God, part of the whole, the microcosm. So, in order to have harmony in our lives, we must be in harmony with God. It is our responsibility, our duty to create this harmony, because nature is already harmonic, we are the ones that tend to fall off to the other side.

For true healing to happen the energy of the person must be based on Universal Laws. Understanding these laws have proven a great value in the process of healing. People and healers must know in which manner they must proceed. Without this understanding, healers could only rely on trial and error methods.

The law of action and reaction show us that when something occurs, there is always some kind of ripple effect. An action is always followed by a reaction in each and every example of life. So, regards to healing, the right action can be used to redirect our defense mechanism so healing can take place, by producing a certain reaction appropriated for healing.

The law of attraction and repulsion is present everywhere even in our bodies, therefore in the healing process. When we pay real attention to the body, we can see that it tries to attract what it needs and repulse what he does not need.

The first Law of Motion of Newton is also called the Law of Inertia (A body at rest, or moving at a constant velocity, will not change unless acted upon by an external force.) We can look at this law and grasp that treatment can be a catalyst for change.

The law of periodicity comes to show us that the flow of energy is maintained and regulated in each cycle of life. Understanding and working with the cycles can bring healing.

A good example in my life about not respecting the cycles, brought huge difficulties in my life. I had a contraceptive implant for nine years; I never had my menstruation. When I removed the implant, my menstruation was not flowing. My skin was full of spots. I felt disconnected with my feminine side. I had to go through a natural treatment to get my menstruation and clear all physical problems associated with the lack of menstruation for so long. I had a hormonal imbalance for a long time.

The law of crisis is related to a period of disequilibrium. Regarding healing, this period can be called on by specific cleansing and regeneration techniques applied to the body to eliminate accumulated wastes and toxins.

The law of sympathetic vibration means “a vibration produced in one body by the vibrations of exactly the same period in a neighboring body”. Taking this knowledge into healing, we can then accept that external vibrations can affect our internal vibration. For example, when someone is caring, kind and demonstrates love and compassion, the other person might also start resonating with this vibration.

For me harmony comes from understanding the laws of nature and accepting them. As well as understand the values and virtues of the human beings. These values and virtues are related to the macrocosm, which vibrate love and harmony.

As I started to go deep into studying the different philosophies and cultures, I realized there is plenty of information which at some point started to confuse me. So, I stepped back and I focused on what does it mean to be a good human being. This took me to the values and virtues of a human being, such as patience, honesty, loyalty, compassion, kindness, love, peace, cleanliness, courage, wisdom, etc. I realized if I focused on these virtues, I would be a dignified human being.

Another concept I took onboard was the concept of creation, balance and destruction. Like in Hindu religion, this concept is represented by three gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Brahma is the creator of the universe; Vishnu is the preserver and Shiva the destroyer. These three aspects are essential for the harmony of the universe, for example without creation, there is no destruction. We can see this clearly in ourselves: without taking in food, we cannot release it from our bodies.

This balance, or harmony, that we have been talking about has also another aspect: the harmony between the five elements – Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. These elements are found everywhere, we are made of these elements, as well as animals and plants. We can find them outside and inside us. We cannot deny their influence on us. Therefore the healing process seeks to restore the harmony between us and these elements. In many natural healing methods, we can find the presence of these elements, for example, in baths, muds, saunas, steam rooms, infusions, etc. When all elements are balanced, then the person will also feel balanced.

We see this respect for all elements in many cultures and religions: ceremonies are done with fire in Hinduism and shamanism, water rituals have been observed also in shamanism and Buddhism.

In the course\retreat I did about plant medicine we talked about responsibility in healing. Modern medicine and healing methods tend to be focused on giving responsibility to doctors, therapists, etc. The people see those with a huge power and they will do and believe everything they say. They also give responsibility to the medicine itself; it is the medicine that is going to heal them. I understand that in natural medicine it does not work like this. The person has the power to cure themselves. The doctors, healers, therapists and plants are there to guide them through the healing process.

Prevention has always been present with me since I took meditation classes. My teacher used to say “Do it while you are healthy, so when you get sick, it will be easier to deal with”. So, with my own physical and mental health and followed this since that day. By doing this, we are preventing illnesses but at the same time gathering positive coping strategies to deal with difficult times.
